This procedure is ideal for patients with stubborn areas of localized fat that do not respond to diet and exercise. This area is often difficult to target with muscle toning exercises, and may benefit from a minimally invasive treatment to help patients restore slimmer and more youthful-looking arms.
It is important for patients to maintain realistic expectations and realize that liposuction cannot be used for significant weight loss, but is instead intended to tighten and slim the arm contour.
Procedure
During the arm liposuction procedure Dr Khan inserts a thin cannula into the arm through a tiny incision in the targeted area to melt, dissolve and then remove fat in the area through suction. The tumescent assisted liposuction is then followed by inserting a laser fiber under the skin and gently heating the under surface of skin and fat in order to achieve appropriate skin tightening of the arm skin. Dr Khan’s technique of combining the low level laser therapy (LLLT) after liposuction can provide skin tightening without the need for extensive surgeries. The entire procedure usually takes one to two hours to perform under a local anesthetic. Patients can return home the same day.
Recovery
After liposuction, patients will likely experience some soreness and bruising, often compared to the feeling after a heavy workout. Resting the arms for 1-2 days is recommended, with most patients feeling completely back to normal after 5-7 days. Scarring from liposuction is minimal because of the small incision size required.
